Love Has No Heart Of Its Own by Mark Jewett BMI, (c) 2011 It recently occurred to me With subtle irony That Love has no heart of its own Love’s a seed that must be sown It’s a solid cornerstone But Love is powerless alone Love only grows In places where it knows It can steal a heart and have a home And if your heart is open wide Love will curl up inside, ‘cuz Love has no heart of its own For Love to live, it must reside In a heart that can provide A place to hang it’s hat and settle in Love will light the fire there And catch its victims unaware And wait for the magic to begin Love only grows In places where it knows It can steal a heart and have a home And if your heart is open wide Love will curl up inside, ‘cuz Love has no heart of its own The whole idea is strange to me I ask myself, “How can it be Love’s at the heart of this mystery?” I don’t know… As long as there’s a heart to give A hideaway where Love can live There’s no reason for alarm Love has a master plan And Love will do all that it can To keep all our loving hearts from harm Love only grows In places where it knows It can steal a heart and have a home And if your heart is open wide Love will curl up inside, ‘cuz Love has no heart of its own

Daydreams 03:58
Daydreams by Mark Jewett BMI, (c) 2011 I like to daydream … late at night And dream of everything that’s goin’ right ‘Cuz in the daytime things happen way too fast It’s hard to make a decent daydream last You can dream anything when you dream at night But when you daydream every dream can turn out right I had a dream … that everything was real Where Superman was really made of steel And Lois Lane, she was pretty as can be The funny thing, she was in love with me You can dream anything when you dream at night But when you daydream every dream can turn out right I had a dream … that everything was cool Where we were chillin’ by a swimmin’ pool The sun was warm and the sky was blue And in my dream, nobody loved me more than you You can dream anything when you dream at night But when you daydream every dream can turn out right Dream, dream in color or black and white I like to daydream at night

Help Me Know 05:27
Help Me Know by Mark Jewett BMI, (c) 2011 My conviction is strong as steel And yet I don’t know how I feel My allegiance is tried and true And yet I don’t know what to do My faith is deep, my love undying So when I listen to my heart, why is it crying? I could use a helping hand To help me truly understand To help me know what I must do To close the distance between me and you Now, my demeanor is sometimes cold At least that’s what I’m sometimes told But my intentions are well and good Sometimes they’re just misunderstood But I believe in good and I’ll go on believing So when I listen to my heart, why is it grieving? Love is strong, but hearts can be broken By careless words or words unspoken Some people seem to forgive but not forget And others live forever with regret So if you don’t mind, and it’s all right with you I’d like to have the chance to do what I must do. But I could use a helping hand To help me truly understand To help me know what I must do To close the distance between me and you

Just One Clue by Mark Jewett BMI, © 2011 Tell me Honey, what is on your mind? Tell me Honey, what is on your mind? I know there’s somethin’ goin’ on there… And I’m afraid what I might find Tell me Sugar, did I do something wrong? Tell me Sugar, did I do something wrong? ‘Cuz I would like to make it up to you If it doesn’t take too long Come on Darlin’, won’t you tell me what to do? Come on now Darlin’, can’t you tell me what to do? ‘Cuz I cannot read your mind now As much as you would like me to So what’cha say now Honey, how about a clue? Say now Sugar… won’t you give me just one clue? ‘Cuz if you help me just a little I might know just what to do

about

“The best songs do two things, deftly revealing the unvarnished truth about both the songsmith and the listener. With ‘Love Has No Heart Of Its Own’, Mark Jewett has delivered a clutch of tunes that neatly and effortlessly accomplishes both. He renders them lovingly and openly, without a trace of artifice. You can hear who Mark is in every line, from the heartfelt to the humorous. All of his influences and interests are filtered through his unique and honest slant on life, love, longing and contentment. A warm and pleasurable packet of songs delivered with wry wit. Enjoy!” - Nolan Mendenhall - Producer, Work Ethic Productions

Four years ago, I didn’t even know I could write a song. Thanks to some great friends and mentors, I discovered that I could. It was a gift I never saw coming and it has hit me like ton of joyous bricks.

Special thanks to
… to my family (Deb, Scott & Lindsay) for putting up with my less-than-entertaining practice hours and my time away from home for things musical so many evenings.
… all involved in organizing and operating the “Above The Bridge” Songwriters’ Weekend in Curtis, MI, especially The Hummingbirds (Steve & Rachel) and Kelly & Bud Chamberlin for making it possible.
… Nolan, Roscoe, Jerome, Rod & Annie; for their great ideas and performances.

Very special thanks to Jill Jack and Nolan Mendenhall. Jill, for convincing me that I could do this and kicking my butt until I did. Nolan, for your support, for introducing me to your world and your amazing colleagues and for helping me make music I want to share.

That’s all… except, “Thank you, too. I hope you like it.” -

Mark
